Privacy Policy

All information you provide in entering the Technology Scale-up Awards 2023 (Awards) will be treated in accordance with this Policy. Hamilton Locke Pty Ltd (ABN 54 621 047 247) (we, us, our) is responsible for organising and operating the Awards. This Policy sets out how we collect, use and disclose personal information as part of the Awards.


The types of information we collect

We collect the information that is provided as part of the application form for the Awards. This will include personal information, such as your name, contact details and information about your business (Personal Information). Some of this information is likely to be commercially confidential, such as your business turnover (Commercial Information).

We may also collect:

  • the contact details of everyone who attends the Awards (Attendees)
  • contact details of representatives of the applicants, and
  • in respect of the winners of the Awards and Attendees, audio and video recordings, which will also be considered Personal Information.

 

It is a condition of entry to the Awards that you agree with this Policy and provide us the requested Personal and Commercial Information (together Information). If you do not provide the Information, or provide us with anonymous, inaccurate or incomplete Information, you will not be eligible to participate in the Awards.

If you give us the Information of another person, you warrant that they consented to the disclosure and that you gave them a copy of this Policy.

 

Purpose of collection

We collect your Information for the following purposes (Purposes):

  • to run, administer and publicise the Awards
  • for our internal business purposes and developing industry awareness
  • to conduct market research
  • for our business development purposes
  • with your consent, to promote our services and those of the sponsors of the Awards (Sponsors)
    to you, including through electronic direct messages
  • with your consent to the Sponsors, for the Sponsors to promote their services to you, including through electronic direct messages, and
  • other purposes related to the above where you would reasonably expect that.

 

Disclosure of information

Except with your express consent, we will only disclose your Information as set out in this Policy.

We may disclose your name and the name of your business to publicise the Awards, including future Awards.

We may also disclose your Personal Information to:

  • our related entities and our personnel for the Purposes;
  • other entities, including the judges and Sponsors, who assist us in administering the Awards and related events, who will use and disclose it for purposes similar to the Purposes and subject to their privacy policies;
  • our third party service providers for the Purposes; and
  • others where required or permitted by law.

 

We will also publicise the applicants and the winners of the Awards and other Attendees, which may include their Personal Information, including the name, photographs, audio and video recordings of Attendees and representatives of applicants, and public information about the relevant business. We may post such content on our website and social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Instagram. These posts will be visible globally. You acknowledge and agree that the Sponsors may post similar content on their websites and social media platforms.

We will also provide the contact list of Attendees of the Awards to Sponsors.

We will not disclose any of your Commercial Information except to judges and Sponsors, who will keep it confidential. Judges will use the Information to adjudicate the Awards. Sponsors will use the Information as set out above.

We have judges based overseas in Singapore and will therefore disclose your Information to those judges. We also have contractors and service providers located in New Zealand to whom we may disclose your Information in connection with the Purposes.

If you would like to:

  • access or correct any Information we hold about you
  • make a complaint about our collection, use or disclosure of Information under this Policy or the
    Australian Privacy Principles, or

You are also able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner directly in relation to a breach by us of this Policy or the Australian Privacy Principles although we encourage you to reach out to us first.

We take all complaints seriously and will respond to you as quickly as possible.

In some cases, we may be unable to comply with a request you make. If so, we will explain the reasons for our decision and let you know what your options are.
